If Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, art enthusiast James Pessy flatters the great Art Deco masters unlike anyone.
Original bronze sculptures of the elegant dancers and Egyptian maidens of the Art Nouveau and Art Deco periods created by masters such as Demetre H. Chiparus, Max LeVerrier and Marcell Bouraine may cost $160,000 or more - a bit pricey for the most people.

Pessy, an ardent admirer of the period and owner of the Art Deco Decor in Irvine, creates quality reproductions of these great works, at a fraction of the cost. He developed a method for reproducing the metal art of these early masters and other artistic pieces of decor, including antique chandeliers, lamps, wall sconces and candelabras.

" I'm re-creating the works that everybody would like to have, but can't afford," Pessy said. With reproductions, "you can have the look without the investment." The casting process also allows Pessy to create custom-designed pieces. Some of those have appeared in famous films. About 70 percent of his work remains devoted to the Art Deco style,"It was the best period of time for art."
